Introduction to Tazk POS

What is Tazk POS?

Tazk POS is the billing, inventory and accounting application for Indian retail and distribution businesses. You bill at the counter or raise GST invoices, buy from vendors, move and count stock across locations, collect and pay money, and every one of those transactions posts to your books — so the dashboard, ledgers and reports all read from the same numbers.

Who uses Tazk POS?

Tazk POS is built for retail stores, wholesalers and distributors. The landing screen describes it as "Simple and Effective Billing Software, Perfectly Tailored for Indian Retail Stores". Typical users are:

  • Owners and administrators — set up the company, locations, users and roles, and watch the Dashboard Overview.
  • Counter staff and cashiers — bill customers on the Sales Counter, look up products and close the day.
  • Sales and back-office staff — raise quotations, sales orders, invoices and delivery challans, and record receipts.
  • Purchase and store staff — raise purchase orders, enter vendor bills, transfer and reconcile stock.
  • Accountants — manage cash and bank, cheques, journal entries and ledgers, and pull GST and financial reports.
  • Field salesmen — work their My Beat and track their Salesman Targets.
Note: What you see in the sidebar depends on your company’s plan and on the permissions of your user role. If a menu described in this help centre is missing for you, ask your administrator.

How does the work flow through Tazk POS?

  1. Set up — company information, locations, users and roles, bank accounts, cash boxes and payment methods (Settings), and how billing and stock behave (Configuration).
  2. Add masters — products in the Product Master customers in Customer Contacts and vendors in Vendor Contacts. Optionally set a Customer Price List or Vendor Price List.
  3. Buy and stock up — raise Purchase Orders, enter the vendor’s Bills to bring stock in, and move it between locations with Stock Transfer and Stock Receive.
  4. Sell — bill at the Sales Counter, or go Quotation → Sales Orders → Delivery Challans → Invoices. A sale reduces stock and, if unpaid, adds to Receivables.
  5. Collect and pay — record Receipts from customers and Purchase Payments to vendors; returns go through Credit Notes and Debit Notes.
  6. Manage cash and bank — track Cash In Hand, Cheques and Bank Reconciliation, and record Expenses.
  7. Review — watch the Dashboard Overview, check Ledgers, and run Reports.

What should I set up first?

The first time an administrator signs in, Tazk POS shows a Welcome aboard! screen. Starting from it opens a short one-time setup wizard with three steps for a Point of Sale company:

StepWhat you do
BankAdd your bank account for accounting transactions. You can skip this and set it up later.
Cash BoxCreate a cash box to record cash entries and manage denominations.
Payment MethodDefine payment options like Cash, Cards, UPI and online transfers. You can skip this and set it up later.

After the wizard, work through this checklist before you start billing:

  1. Check your company details, GSTIN and address in Company Info — they print on every invoice.
  2. Add your shops and godowns as locations, then create users and give each a role and the locations they may work in.
  3. Review Configuration — invoice numbering, stock and approval behaviour.
  4. Choose an invoice layout in Document Templates.
  5. Add your products with HSN code, tax and prices in the Product Master, and bring in opening stock.
  6. Add your customers in Customer Contacts and vendors in Vendor Contacts, with GSTIN, credit limit and credit days where they apply.
  7. Make a test sale on the Sales Counter and check that it appears on the Dashboard Overview and in Stocks.
Tip: Most figures are scoped to your locations: a user mapped to one shop sees that shop’s stock, sales and cash. Use the location selector in the top bar to switch between the locations you have access to.
