Inventory & Stock FAQs

How is my stock valued in Tazk POS?

The dashboard’s Total Inventory card values the quantity still available at your locations at its cost price, excluding GST — the same basis as the closing stock on your balance sheet. Stock in a location named Scrap Location is left out.

Stock value

Why does Total Inventory differ from the stock value on another screen?

The dashboard values stock at cost excluding GST, so it matches your books. A screen that adds GST to cost will show a higher figure. Also check that both are looking at the same locations.

Is scrap stock counted?

No. Stock held in a location named “Scrap Location” is excluded from the dashboard’s inventory value.

Where can I see stock value by location?

The Available Stocks by Location chart on the Dashboard Overview shows one bar per location; sort it with Asc / Desc. For product-level detail use Stocks.

Locations

Why can’t I see stock at another shop?

You only see the locations your user role is mapped to. Ask your administrator to add the location to your role in Settings.

How do I move stock between locations?

Send it with Stock Transfer; the receiving location accepts it in Stock Receive.

The system stock doesn’t match my count. What do I do?

Record the physical count in Stock Reconcilate. For a lot, batch or serial number, trace its history in Lot Traceability.

Cost of goods sold

Does buying stock reduce my profit on the dashboard?

No. Gross Profit and Net Profit use the cost price of the items you actually sold, less returns — not what you purchased. Stock you buy sits in inventory until it is sold.

Where do I add products and their cost?

In the Product Master. Stock comes in through vendor Bills.
